Studies with a Spray Floral Preservative

Subject:

Focus on Floriculture Vol 5 #4

Abstract:

Often it is desirable to improve the keeping life of cut flowers that do not have a source of water. Following are studies with Ultra Life,3 a spray preservative that may be useful under these conditions. Preliminary studies indicated the need for complete coverage of the flower parts if reliable, repeatable results are to be obtained. All of our studies are with single flowers sprayed with an aerosol can at a distance of 8 inches. The flower was sprayed while being slowly rotated on a turntable. Five replications were used in all the studies.
